Chicken Shashlik
These tasty chicken skewers can be cooked outside on the barbecue or inside in a grill pan if you prefer. Either way they make a fabulous meal served with a side of rice or salad.

What do I need?
- 1 cup Greek yoghurt, plus extra to serve
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- Pinch ground cumin
- Pinch ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp chilli flakes
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 tbsp lemon jjuice
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 kg chicken breast, chopped into 3-centimetre pieces
- Vegetable oil, for the barbecue
How do I make it?
- Add yoghurt, olive oil, paprika, cumin, cinnamon, chilli flakes, lemon zest and juice, salt, pepper and garlic to a large bowl and stir to combine.
- Toss in chopped chicken pieces and mix well so that the chicken is well coated.
- Line a baking tray with baking paper and thread chicken onto skewers, then place skewers on baking tray. When all chicken has been put on skewers brush remaining marinade over the meat, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- Preheat barbecue or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the barbecue or grill pan with a little vegetable oil then add skewers and cook, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through, about 12-15 minutes.
