
Beef Stroganoff
Budget-friendly gravy beef is cooked in a sauce of onions, garlic, and mushrooms, all enriched with a velvety combination of sour cream, tomato paste, Worcestershire Sauce and Dijon mustard. Served with pasta or rice, it is a warm, tasty and hearty meal that the whole family will enjoy.

What do I need?
- 1.2 kg gravy beef, cubed
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 medium brown onion, chopped
- 350 g button mushrooms, halved
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 4 tbsp plain flour
- 500 mL beef stock
- 1 cup sour cream
How do I make it?
- Season gravy beef with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over high heat. Working in batches so as not to overcrowd the pot brown beef on all sides. Set beef aside.
- Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the pot. When melted add onion, mushrooms, and garlic and cook until the onion starts to soften.
- Add Worcestershire Sauce, Dijon mustard, and tomato paste. stir and then sprinkle over flour and stir again.
- Slowly add beef stock, stirring constantly to dissolve the flour. Return beef to the pot, add sour cream and stir. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover with a lid and cook for 1 hour, then remove lid and cook for a further 30 minutes.
