Bratwurst in Beer
Bathing bratwurst in beer adds a new dimension to the flavour. Pop in a roll with onion, mustard and pickles for a tasty lunch.

What do I need?
- 1 large brown onion, diced
- 4 cans beer
- 10 Wursthaus bratwurst sausages
- 2 tsp chilli flakes
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- Pinch of ground black pepper
- To Serve
- Grilled onion
- Mustard
- Pickles
How do I make it?
- Heat a barbecue or grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil.
- In a large saucepan add beer and onion and bring to the boil. Add the sausages with the garlic, chilli, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes.
- Remove the bratwurst rom the beer mix and reduce heat to a simmer to continue cooking the onion.
- Transfer the bratwurst to the barbecue or grill and cook, turning occasionally, until evenly charred.
- Using tongs, remove onion from the beer mixture. Place the bratwurst into bread rolls and serve with onion, mustard and pickles.
