Ham and Cheddar Cheese Scones
These scones are easy to make and delicious served hot out of the oven. Try them with a bowl of soup for a complete meal or enjoy them for afternoon tea or in lunchboxes.

What do I need?
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 cup tasty cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/3 cup ham, chopped
- 2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
How do I make it?
- Preheat oven to 220C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder and salt in a large bowl. Add butter and use your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
- Stir in milk, cheese, ham and chives using a knife until a dough forms.
- Lightly flour a work surface and turn the dough out. Knead until it comes together and then roll out into a circle about 20 centimetres round. Cut circle into 8 wedges and place the wedges onto the baking tray.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned and firm to the touch.
