Air fryer scones
Treat mum to an afternoon tea of traditional scones with jam and cream, made non-traditionally in the air fryer.
How long will it take?
45 minutes
What’s the serving size?
Makes 16 scones
What do I need?
- 3 ½ cups self-raising flour
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 300 mL cream
- 185 mL lemonade
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Milk, for brushing
- Jam, to serve
- Whipped cream, to serve
How do I make it?
- Add flour and sugar to a large bowl and stir to combine. Make a well in the centre of the flour and sugar mixture and pour in cream, lemonade, and vanilla. Use a knife to mix until the dough comes together.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth (about 1 minute). Use your hands to press dough out to a thickness of 2 ½ centimetres. Dip a round cutter into flour and cut scones from the dough. Press together leftover dough to cut out more scones so that you have a total of 16 scones.
- Put a piece of baking paper in the air fryer and lay some of the scones on top of the paper. The scones should be very close together, almost touching. Brush the tops with milk and cook on 160C for 15 minutes or until the scones are golden and sound hollow when tapped. Repeat for remaining scones.
- Serve with jam and cream.
