Easy apple strudel
The much-loved traditional Viennese strudel gets a 21st century makeover by using bought puff pastry for time-saving and convenience. Serve with cream for a warming dessert on a chilly night.

What do I need?
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 4 Granny Smith apples
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup sultanas
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp milk
- Cream to serve
How do I make it?
- Preheat oven to 200C.
- Peel and core apples and cut into thin slices.
- In a bowl, combine apples, sultanas and sugar together, ensuring the apples are well coated with the sugar.
- Roll the pastry with a rolling pin and place on a greased baking tray.
- Spoon apple mix onto the middle of the pastry lengthways, leaving a 5 cm gap at each end for folding.
- Fold the pastry and seal all edges by pressing firmly with your fingers.
- Combine egg and milk together, with a fork and use a pastry brush to brush on the top of the pastry.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
- Serve with cream.
