Mixed Berry Samosas
These Mixed Berry Samosas are a delightful twist on the classic snack, combining a crisp, golden pastry shell with a sweet, juicy filling of seasonal berries. We made our own dough for the samosas but if you’re short of time you could substitute with a store-bought shortcrust pastry. These are delicious served hot but any leftovers can be kept in an airtight container and enjoyed the next day.

What do I need?
For the Dough
- 2 ½ cups plain flour
- 1 tbsp caster sugar
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup warm water
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
For the filling
- 125 g blueberries
- 125 g raspberries
- 125 g strawberries, chopped
- 1 tbsp caster sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
How do I make it?
- Make the dough by combining the flour, sugar, oil and water in a food processor until they come together. Remove from food processor and work into a smooth ball with your hands. Wrap the dough in clingfilm, place on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 200C.
- Divide the dough into golf ball size balls and roll them out into thin rounds, about 10 centimetres wide.
- Combine filling ingredients in a bowl and toss well the coat in the sugar and cinnamon.
- Put about 2 tbsp filling on one half of the dough and fold the other half over. Press with your fingers to close tightly. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
- Brush samosas with the lightly beaten egg and place on a lined baking tray. Cook for 10 – 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and serve hot with ice-cream, custard, cream or all three!
