Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll be tasting and who you’ll be chatting with at our 10th Birthday Meet the Producers event at Hill Street West Hobart on Saturday August 23 from 1pm to 4pm.

We’re very excited about our Meet the Producers event at Hill Street West Hobart on Saturday August 23 from 1pm to 4pm. It’s going to be extra special because it’s our West Hobart store’s 10th Birthday and we’ll have lots to taste, eat and drink, as well as music and lots of familiar faces. Supporting our local growers and makers is what Hill Street has always been about, from our very early days to now. Our Meet the Producers events are a chance for you to come along and meet the farmers, makers and growers who supply our stores. Enjoy free tastings and discover your new favourite products! Here are just a few of the producers you’ll meet and products you can sample. 

We’ll have roving Oyster Butlers from Tasmanian Oyster Co plying trays of their world-renowned oysters through the crowd for your tasting enjoyment.

Long time supplier Island Berries will be there with their new packaging showing off their name change to Island Harvest – and letting you taste the bounty of the Tasmanian harvest in their delicious jams, coulis, pastes and sauces.

Dimitri and Jae Smet of award-winning Tasmanian chocolaterie Lakker will be on hand with some delectable handmade chocolates to taste.

    We’ll have beautiful wines from Pooley, Ghost Rock, Glaetzer-Dixon and Ossa, gins from Blackmans Bay Bluff and Hellfire, some Moo Brew beers and their no-alcohol notto blotto

    Calendar Cheese will be there with some oozy raclette, Bruny Island Cheese will have some delicious cheeses to try and the folks from Lauds will have their amazing plant-based cheeses to sample.

Made with love and all-natural Tasmanian ingredients by our own kitchen team, will be our delicious new cake range including our Wursthaus Burnt Basque Cheesecake and Lemon Tart as well as our quiches. There’ll also be tasting plates of all the delicious sausages and smallgoods we produce our Wursthaus production facility at Cambridge.

Calendar Cheese will be there with some oozy raclette, Bruny Island Cheese will have some delicious cheeses to try and the folks from Lauds will have their amazing plant-based cheeses to sample.

Sophie and Brad Milic, second-generation walnut growers and owners of   Coaldale Walnuts, will have their walnut kernels and pickled walnuts, grown in the Coal River Valley, to taste.

Our friends from Villino will have some special coffee blends to try, and Silvana from Savour Foods will let you sample some delicious salumi.

Ann Atkinson of Thai Larder will have her authentic Thai sauces for you to taste, and Tim Jones of Wild Mother will be there with his brilliant and healthful Apple Cider Vinegar, Resilience Tonic and more.

And if you have a sweet tooth, visit Anita Long’s stand from Hive & Cob to taste her Leatherwood Honey Popcorn, and drop in to chat and taste with Janette Chesterfield from The Tasmanian Meringue Company.

Scottsdale Pork’s slow cooked range will be available for tasting at Scottsdale Pork’s stall, and Ruby Daly of Daly Potato farm will have both potatoes and gin to sample; yes, there is a connection, read about it here!

And all this delicious food needs to be washed down with some special Tasmania wines, beers and spirits. We’ll have beautiful wines from Pooley, Ghost Rock, Glaetzer-Dixon and Ossa, gins from Blackmans Bay Bluff and Hellfire, some Moo Brew beers and their no-alcohol notto blotto, sparkling from Kreglinger, Clover Hill and Delamere, whisky and gin from Drifters End, and lots more to wet your whistle.

There will be many more stallholders to meet and sample from so get along to Hill Street West Hobart between 1pm and 4 pm on Saturday August 23 and join our community for some great food and a good catch up!
