Meet Nikita
We have exciting news to share, meet our new Store Manager, Hill Street Sandy Bay, Nikita!
Long time customers of our Blackman’s Bay, Lauderdale and Dodges Ferry stores will know this face – but it may be new to our Sandy Bay customers.
Nikita has been with Hill Street since 2014 and has been steadily building his career with us through several stores.
After taking some extended long service leave in 2025 to travel the world with his fiancée, he’s back and ready to take on his next challenge, managing our Sandy Bay store.
Nikita learnt everything about running stores from our founder, his uncle Marco, as well as dad Niktar and mum Georgina, who many customers will remember from their days running Hill Street Lauderdale.
We caught up with Nikita recently and asked him a few questions about work, life and travel.

Sandy Bay Store Manager, Nikita
Q: You have a long history at Hill Street. Briefly tell us which stores have you worked in and in what roles?
A: Well, it’s quite a list! I’ve worked at Hill Street Blackmans Bay as a Team Member in Produce, Grocery and Deli, then Produce Manager, Deli Manager and Section Manager. I’ve spent time at West Hobart as a team member in Produce and Grocery, and also was their Delivery Driver. I had a stint in Produce at Hill Street New Town and also Hill Street South Hobart, where I also worked in Produce and Grocery, and I also did the same roles at Hill Street Lauderdale. Most recently, I was the Store Manager at Hill Street Dodges Ferry.
Q: What keeps you coming back to work each day?
A: Wanting to uphold the original Hill Street values that I have grown up with and share these values with my team, to continue the feeling of this family owned-business that I am proud to be a part of.
Q: What are you most proud of in your time at Hill Street so far?
A: The Dodges Ferry store was transformed by renovations in 2022 and I am very proud to have led an inexperienced but amazing team to perform exceptionally well, whilst exceeding our goals and targets.
Q: 2025 saw you take your much deserved long-service leave plus some extended leave. Tell us what you did and where you went?
A: I travelled around the world with my now fiancée - we managed to explore 21 different countries over 6 months and we had the time of our lives. From proposing in Cyprus to making snow angels in Denmark, it was an experience I will never forget.
Q: What was the best place you visited?
A: It’s hard to choose just one country because of so many different experiences, from swimming in the beautiful waters of Greece, hot air ballooning in Morocco, drinking Guinness from the factory in Ireland and watching Manchester United play at Old Trafford. But if I had to choose just one place it would be Cyprus.
Q: What was the highlight of your trip?
A: My highlight of the trip was being able to experience a traditional English Christmas with my fiancée’s family in London, eating lots of delicious foods and exploring the beautiful Christmas markets.
Q: Now you’re back, what are your plans?
A: To build a house to move into and to plan a wedding for next year.
Q: What’s exciting you about managing Hill Street Sandy Bay?
A: To have the opportunity to work with and continue to learn from my uncle Marco. And to get to know my new team and customers at Sandy Bay.
Nikita is looking forward to getting to know all our Sandy Bay customers; be sure to say hi when you’re next in store!
