Meet Mary

Our ‘Who's Who in Our Crew’ will help you discover a little more about the personalities behind the checked shirts and aprons.

This week it’s a special edition of Who’s Who as we farewell our very special Store Manager at Longford, Mary, who is leaving us for warmer climes at the end of September. Mary has been with us since 2020, having joined us from Alice Springs with extensive supermarket experience. In our recent chat we discovered some more things about Mary:

When no one is watching I like to… sing.

My favourite place is … the beach.

My favourite movie is … Always.

I barrack for… the only club that matters, Collingwood!!!

Which three people living or dead would you invite to a dinner party?

1. My mum
2. My Dad
3. Gordon
And my kids.

What’s the best thing about working at Hill Street? My team.

What is your secret skill? You’ll never know… (I can fly!)

What is your favourite food? Veggies with gravy.

Do you have a product at your store that you would like to recommend:  Yes!!  Will Studd’s Brillat Savarin cheese.

Most memorable moment at Hill Street? Meeting the owners of Hill Street and working alongside them. Everyone in this company is equal and everyone's treated the same, with love and respect. I am very humbled to have had such a great four years with Hill Street.

Where is your next adventure taking you? Our next adventure is taking us to country Victoria, lovely and warm. You can take the girl out of the country but never take the country out of the girl.

And what is your lasting impression of Tassie? And what will you miss? It's been a cold winter this year! But the hardest part of leaving is my Hill Street family. My amazing team at Longford. And our beautiful house. But I need a challenge, and I love an adventure. Thanks Hill Street from the bottom of my heart.❤️

We thank Mary for her wonderful leadership of our Longford Store over the last four years. She will always be a friend of Hill Street and we wish her well on her onward journey. Mary’s last day is 30th September – make sure you come in and say goodbye!
