Kitchen helper - Remove berry stains from clothing with this pantry item

In Tassie we love berries of all sorts – blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries. But get the juice on your clothing and you’ll have a permanent blue or brownish stain, especially if you allow the stain to dry.
This is where glycerine, a pantry item you might have if you’re into making icing and confectionery, comes to the rescue. Follow these steps and the stain will disappear.
1. Dab stain liberally with straight glycerine on a soft, clean cloth, ideally when the stain is fresh.
2. Leave it on for about an hour.
3. Wash the item normally.
It’s important not to use water first – this will ‘set’ the stain into the fabric and make it much harder to remove. Glycerine is a type of carbohydrate called a sugar alcohol, or polyol. Its ability to retain moisture helps it loosen stains by breaking down the molecules in the stain and making it easier to remove during the wash cycle.
Bonus: it also works on stains from makeup, oil, coffee, grease and even tar.
