Lemons are a fantastic ingredient in so many recipes, both sweet and savoury. But one of the frustrations with them is that you often don’t have to use a whole lemon at once. So you slice it in half and pop the unused portion in the fridge, only to find it a couple of weeks later when it has dried out and gone yuck.

So what can you do? We have a great hack to solve this problem. Simply put the whole lemon in the microwave and zap for 10 seconds. Then roll the lemon on the bench to loosen the juice inside. Now take a skewer and push into the end and give a squeeze. You’ll find that you can get as much juice as you need to flow out of the lemon and then pop the lemon in the fridge to use later without it drying out.
