Stuck without self-raising flour? Don’t worry because with our simple hack you can make your own.

All you need to do is add some salt and some baking powder to plain flour and you’ll have your own DIY self-raising flour. It’s important to get the quantities right so this is what you need to remember – for every cup of self raising flour that you want to make, measure out one cup of plain flour and add ¼ teaspoon salt and 1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder. Stir the flour, salt and baking powder together and then sift a couple of times to ensure your DIY self-raising flour is light and fluffy.
