How to juice lemons with ease … kitchen helper

When a recipe calls for half a cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice do you throw your hands in the air and think it’s all too hard? Do you find that you have to squeeze lots of lemons to extract that half a cup of juice?  It doesn’t have to be that hard with our handy kitchen helper.

All you need to do is pop a lemon in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds, remove it and allow to cool for about a minute before slicing it in half and squeezing. You’ll discover that the lemon yields its juice much more readily after a little spin around the microwave turntable. The reason is that warming lemons, or pretty much any citrus fruit, loosens the insides so that the juice flows more freely.
