Kitchen helper - Easy Citrus Zest

Don’t throw out your juiced oranges, lemons or limes: use them for zest with this easy tip!

Winter is citrus time and a bowl of oranges, lemons or limes in your kitchen brings some colour and sunshine to an otherwise dull day.

If you juice lemons or limes for a recipe, or oranges for your daily hit of vitamin C, save the juiced halves and pop them in the freezer in a Ziploc bag.

They’re much easier to zest when hardened up by freezing, and you will always have lemons, limes or oranges at hand when a recipe calls for zest.

Zest also keeps well in the freezer in small plastic Ziploc bags.
