Tru Blu Berries
Tru Blu Berries is a family run business in Lymington, just south of the lovely town of Cygnet in the Huon Valley.
The business has been operated by the Clark family for over 40 years. Damian and his sister Sharon have taken on the management of the business from their father Gary Clark, who started a commercial blueberry farm in the early days of the sector.
The region is ideal for blueberry production, relatively mild in temperature, protected from the wind and has good winter chill hours. Fruit tends to be of a good size and full of flavour with a beautiful bloom which protects the fruit.
The family expanded their farm operations in 2000 and subsequently invested in cool store and high-tech grading equipment. Their operations supply local, domestic and export markets.
In addition, they grow a small volume of raspberries and sell directly to the public in season as well as through retail outlets.
Tasmania is a successful blueberry growing region, as a state it is the second largest production region behind New South Wales.
