Why soups are the perfect winter dish
There’s nothing better than a wholesome chunky soup on a winter’s night. Besides being nutritious and warming, they can make your working week just a little bit easier. Read on to find out how.
The calendar is just clicking over to being officially winter here in Tasmania, and we all start thinking about nurturing comfort foods like soups and other slow-cooked dishes which warm us from the inside out.
Soups are easy to make and are excellent for using up all the vegetables in your crisper before they go to waste. They’re labour saving too – with 10 or 15 minutes of prep and initial cooking, you can then walk away while your pot simmers slowly on the stove, your kitchen windows fog up and delicious aromas fill your house. You might just have achieved domestic god/goddess status.
But we all have days where slowly simmering something on the stove is just not possible. Full workdays or after school sports mean you’re often time-crunched and this is where a high-quality ready-made soup can come to the rescue.
When you’re feeding your family you are looking for nutritious home-style food, no nasty additives, and a good price which will help with the weekly budget.
With this in mind we have launched our updated range of ready-to-eat soups from Wursthaus, made in Tasmania at the Hill Street kitchens at Cambridge.
In these soups you’ll find nothing but the ingredients you would use yourself in making a soup – so no thickeners, preservatives or artificial additives that you would find in commercial soups. Instead, just quality veggies and meat, simmered in Hill Street’s own kitchen at Cambridge. Our range features our classic favourites and some new varieties. They come in 500g (two serves) for $7.99 and 850g (3-4 serves) for $15.
Served with a hot buttered roll, toasted sourdough or a cheese toastie, these soups will really satisfy.
