We’ve got the juice

If you’ve seen our Zummo orange juice machines in action in-store lately, they are an amazing feat of engineering that has kids and adults alike enthralled when they’re in action. Read on to find out all about our latest efforts in the war on plastic bottles and why Hill Street orange juice is the healthy choice!

Apologies if our stores seem a little more cramped than usual lately... with the arrival of our fabulous milk-on-tap stations in recent months, and in the last few weeks, ten shiny new Zummo orange juice machines, we’re packing a lot into our stores, especially the smaller ones (sorry South Hobart)!

Our Zummo orange juice machines are amazing to watch – almost Willy Wonka-like in operation. Hold the lever down and position your bottle under the nozzle, and the oranges descend down see-through metal tubing from where they are stored on top of the machine, are sliced and then pressed by orange cups to extract their juice.

The juice contains all the pulp, ensuring you are getting all the fibre and goodness out of each orange. Just fill up the bottle provided, and then bring it in, clean, next time you want to fill up! No more plastic bottles going into the environment!

Price-wise, this natural and super-healthy juice costs $7.95 for 1L, $4.95 for 500mL and $3.95 for 300mL. While this is more than commercial orange juice, keep in mind that most juices on the market are made from concentrate, or are diluted, and contain added sugar and preservatives.  The most similar commercial juice is Sunzest organic orange juice, an excellent juice available in most Hill Street stores, and is $8.50 for 2L.

Here are five things you need to know about orange juice:

1.   Orange juice is high in antioxidants and vitamin C, folate and potassium. 250mL of orange juice contains twice the daily recommended amount!

2.   Drinking orange has been found to improve heart health, reduce the risk of kidney stones, decrease inflammation and support your immune system.

3.   Choose freshly-squeezed orange juice with all the pulp in it to get the benefits of fibre in your diet.

4.    Make sure your juice is 100% juice and is not made from reconstituted concentrate and does not contain added sugar.

5.   There is such a thing as ‘too much of a good thing’ – so drink in moderation as orange juice is high in fructose (21g in a cup) and calories (112 calories).

Hill Street freshly-squeezed orange juice ticks all these boxes and with our refill system you won’t be adding additional plastic bottles into the environment. It’s also super-delicious. Enjoy!
