Just in – Tassie New Season’s apples

It’s very exciting for us when the Tasmanian apple harvest starts and we begin to get the early varieties into our stores.

The season started with a blast with Missile apples from Hansens Orchards – named because they are a sweet juicy explosion all packed into a very compact mini-apple size.

These started being picked in late March and hit our stores in a matter of days, if not hours. Perfectly lunchbox-sized, they are a brilliant healthy snack and guaranteed to be eaten up, core and all.

Next into the stores from Hansens were Pink Lady and Akane apples. Most of you will be familiar with Pink Lady for its crispness and sweet, tangy taste; they are overall one of our most popular apples. Arkane is another early variety and is of Japanese origin, also known as Tokyo Rose. It’s a deep red in colour with a few stripes, is crisp and juicy with a great balance between sweet and tart.

Other favourites Jazz and Royal Gala have also just arrived, so get you’re your nearest Hill Street store and enjoy these wonderful early season apples, grown in Grove in the Huon Valley, and fresh off the tree to you!
