Marg our words… Margaritas are the ultimate flavour sensation

The margarita is literally the perfect flavour combination because it includes all the taste profiles - sweet, sour, salty, bitter and a little bit of umami (depending on your chosen ingredients). The combination of salt from the rim, the sweetness from the agave (or simple sugar syrup), the bitterness from the tequila and the sourness from the lime create a piquant flavour combination that has been enjoyed for over 80 years.

The invention of the margarita has long been attributed to a Mexican bartender named Franciso Morales (also known as Pancho) who invented the famous cocktail while running a bar called Tommy’s Place in El Paso in 1942.

Like many famous cocktails, the margarita has evolved over time to include a huge array of variations including the frozen margarita which is popular in Mexican chain restaurants, the spicy margarita, and the classic, which is a simple combination of good quality Blanco Tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice shaken and served with a salted rim, yum!
