Six Ways to Make Dad’s Day this Father’s Day

Father’s Day is only a week away – it falls on Sunday 7th September this year. Here’s our guide to making it a special day for your dad or father-figure, including gift ideas and recipe inspiration.
Whether you’d like to treat your dad to a special home-cooked lunch or dinner, a special Tasmanian whisky, a cheese hamper or a decadent box of chocolates, Hill Street has everything to make your dad’s day special.
Here are our top 6 suggestions.
1. Feed the man… rib eye!
Make your dad a meal fit for a king. Take advantage of our Rib Eye promotion and serve up this hearty and indulgent Rib Eye with Gorgonzola Butter and Green Salad. There’s even a video to help you get it just right, and our gorgonzola is on special too!
If you’re feeding a crowd then our Wursthaus sausages will take your bbq up a notch, especially with some sauce from the Fancy Hanks range: BBQ Sauce, Tomato Sauce, Habanero and Carrot and Jalapeno and Peach are all on special over Father’s Day.
If a roast is more your dad’s style, a Tassie bone-in leg of lamb with gravy is your go to.
2. For the sweet tooth
Sweet treats will always hit the spot and Tasmanian chocolatiers Anvers and Lakker have some delicious chocolates to choose from, starting from $9.95.
Lakker’s 4-pack Wilderness Chocolate Block Collection, the 9-piece Handmade Chocolate Box, or a 100g block of your dad’s favourite Lakker chocolate, all make a lovely gift as would some Anvers Chocolate Moments.

3. A fine drop
If your dad is a beer man, Moo Brew ($25 for a six-pack) and T-Bone ($5.50 per can) have some great offerings for Father’s Day. If a nice Tasmanian red is more his style, 42 Degrees South’s Cabernet Merlot ($27) is a great value drop, as well as Pressing Matter’s Pinot at $65. And don’t forget some sparkling for a Father’s Day toast, with Clover Hill Exceptionnelle, $47.
Of course, Father’s Day is the perfect time to give your dad a special Tasmanian whisky: we have two offerings from Lark: Malt Whisky Symphony No 1 500mL ($135), and Single Malt Classic Cask 500mL ($180).
Our full range of beer, wine and whisky is available at Hill Street West Hobart only, with a selected range also at Hill Street South Hobart and Hill Street Lauderdale.

4. Cheese please
Cheese buffs will appreciate our organic Emmental, and the Gorgonzola Picante. Both robust cheeses, they would make a great accompaniment to a special Tassie wine or whisky as a unique and bespoke gift for your dad, or as part of a cheese platter for your Father’s Day get together. Or bring the party to your dad with a cheese platter from our Catering range, from $140.
5. Gourmet tastes
Hampers are a perfect gift solution for the notoriously hard-to-buy-for: we suggest our best sellers Sweet Treats, a Taste of Tasmania or a Because you Love Cheese Hamper for your foodie dad. Our hampers start from $75.

6. Gifts with a difference
Our clever team at Hill Street Home have curated a great selection of Father’s Day gifts that will appeal to all sorts of dads, starting at $25.
While socks can be a bit of a cliché, Alfredo Gonzales socks change it up with their quirky designs reflecting your dad’s hobbies and favourite things.
If you have a dad who likes nifty and practical things you can’t go wrong with a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife; he’ll enjoy coming to the rescue with one of the clever little fold-out gadgets it houses.
And Viski brings us two very elegant flasks if your dad likes a wee nip when out in the cold weather – the Nautilus Ceramic flask and the Parker Leather-Wrapped Glass flask.
