Celebrate the power of female friendship… Why Galentine’s Day is the perfect time to shower your gal-pals with love

Galentine’s Day, February 13 is the international day of the celebration of female friendships. Haven’t heard of it? Don’t worry, you are not alone. Discover more about this special day below.

Galentine’s Day is a widely accepted “unofficial” day of celebration first coined and created by a fictional television character in 2010. Created by Leslie Knope a character from the popular American television show Parks & Recreation, Galentine’s Day has become a cultural phenomenon that has been adopted by friendship groups, organisations, and businesses across the world.

The perfect day for a bestie brunch, February 13 is now widely regarded as the day to shower your girlfriends with love and affection. While it may have started as a cheesy idea from a television program, we think it's a wonderful way to acknowledge the pivotal role that female friendships play in our lives.

For women, some of the most memorable relationships are the friendships that are formed between them. These friendships make for a more connected community and create a support system for women to share common experiences, challenges, and needs.

So, in the interest of women supporting women, grab your girlfriends and join in the fun! Plan a date night, send a text, write a card, bake them a cake, or buy them a bunch of their favourite flowers.
