With the kids back at school, the ease of summer living might seem like a distant memory. Suddenly there’s busy mornings, school lunches and traffic jams to contend with. Add in a day at work and it’s no surprise that you feel exhausted by the end of the day. When life is busy, the thought of going home and cooking dinner for the family can be enough to tip you over the edge. That’s why we’ve put together our go-to list of quick and easy dinner ideas that also have the added bonus of being super-tasty and nutritious. You can find all these products at your local Hill Street store.

1.       Hill Street Kitchen Quiche and Salad

Hand-made by our Chef Rick at the Hill Street Kitchen, our quiches are available in two sizes and four different flavours, so there’s something to suit all tastes. Choose from Caramelised Onion Quiche, Vegetarian Quiche, Salmon and Brie Quiche, or Leg Ham and Brie Quiche. The quiches are fully cooked so you can enjoy them cold or if you would like to heat them it’s just a matter of popping them in the oven at 140C for 15 minutes. Combine the quiche with a salad from our extensive range at the Deli and you’ve got yourself a fabulous, fast dinner.

2.       Beef or Vegetarian Lasagne and Salad

Made to a traditional recipe at the Hill Street Kitchen, our flavourful lasagne is a dish the whole family will love. Best of all, you can buy it by the slice so you’re getting the perfect amount to suit you, whether that’s dinner for two or a family of six. You can heat the lasagne in the oven or even microwave it if you’re short on time. Add a Caesar or Greek Salad from the Deli (our salads are available in small, medium, large or extra large sizes) and dinner is served.

3.       Grazing Platter

Antipasto platters are perfect for summer eating and so easy to make. It really is just a matter of popping everything on a serving platter. You can customise your platter to suit your family’s tastes by choosing from our range of charcuterie in the deli and adding your favourite cheese, olives, and antipasto items. The Hill Street Kitchen grilled chicken breast from the Deli makes a great addition to your platter – be sure to try the Greek Style Lemon Chicken flavour. Grab some crusty bread or crackers and you’ve got yourself a grazing platter that will be a hit with the whole family.


4.        Spanakopita

Our Hill Street Kitchen Spanakopita pays homage to our Greek heritage and has been a favourite with customers for many years. Layers of crispy filo pastry encase spinach and feta to make a dish that is seriously moreish. You can purchase our Spanakopita by the slice and it can be gently warmed in the oven and served with your choice of salad.

5.       Chicken or Pork with Roasted Vegetables

If you want the goodness of a home-cooked meal with none of the effort, pick up a free-range Marion Bay barbecue chicken or a hot Roasted Scottsdale Pork Loin from your local Hill Street store. Next visit the Deli and get a container of roasted vegetables in a size to suit your family. To serve, slice the chicken or pork and add the vegetables to the plates and you’ve served the ultimate deliciously convenient dinner.
