Our ‘Who's Who in Our Crew’ will help you discover a little more about the personalities behind the checked shirts and aprons.

Long-time customers at our New Town store will recognise Shannon’s familiar face. After spending time in several other Hill Street stores and a short break away from the business she’s returned to New Town as Store Manager.

Shannon has been part of the Hill Street family since 2011, steadily building her career and gaining experience across multiple locations. We recently caught up with her to chat about her journey, what inspires her, and a little about life outside of work.

Q: You’ve had a long history with Hill Street. Which stores have you worked in and in what roles?
A: I started at New Town when the store first opened, after doing a trial shift at our original West Hobart store. Over the years I’ve worked across many areas,  from the counter to grocery and was part of the team that set up the online store and introduced our new point-of-sale system.

I then spent two years in Strahan, followed by almost two years at Brighton before it was sold. After that, I moved to Lauderdale, where I worked as Store Manager for more than two years. During the past 12 years I’ve also assisted at our Devonport store when it opened. Now I’m back at New Town as Store Manager, which is a really nice full-circle experience.

Q: What keeps you coming back to work each day?
A: Working alongside my team and helping make the store successful.

Q: What are you most proud of during your time at Hill Street?
A: Being part of the growth the business has achieved over the past 15 years.

Q: What excites you most about managing the New Town store?
A: I’m very excited about the refurbishment coming up in April and the improvements that will come with it.
