Happy 10th Birthday Hill Street Devonport!
Time certainly has flown and it’s been a whole decade since Hill Street joined the Devonport community!
We’re celebrating this major milestone this month and looking back at ten amazing years serving our fantastic customers at Hill Street Devonport.
Hill Street arrived in Devonport in 2016 after the major rebuild of the former hardware store site in Oldaker Street.
It was a scary move for us given our close proximity to the ‘majors’ just across the road but we were encouraged by the way our store was embraced by the local community the year before, when we purchased the historic Wells store in Latrobe.
Of course, having the right people on the ground was key and with the leadership of our now Chief Operating Officer Steve Longmore and Trudi Beveridge, now our Northern Area Manager, we worked hard to develop our business in Devonport and gain a loyal following of North West Coast customers which grew steadily year after year.
Ten years on, the store is ably lead by Jay Beveridge, who has retail in his blood. Three years into his role as Store Manager, Jay is one of our most talented young leaders and we’re so grateful for his and our Devonport team’s efforts each and every day. Opening the store in Devonport was just the beginning of our relationship with the local community. We worked hard to establish ourselves and give our customers a point of difference that would make them change their shopping habits – sometimes of a lifetime – and choose to shop with us. We are so grateful to our customers who have supported so many new concepts and products we brought into the store – from our café, to Pigeon Whole croissants made in-house, Hill Street Home, Hill Street Flowers, to gourmet cheeses and products from around Tasmania, Australia and the world.
Along the way we’re grateful and proud that, through the hard work of our team, Hill Street Devonport has won major awards at the IGA Australian Retailer of the Year awards. We’ve grown and developed the careers of hundreds of young (and not so young!) locals. We’ve also supported local charities, schools and sports clubs and become part of the wonderful North West Coast community.
So thank you to all our customers for welcoming us so warmly!
Celebrations kick off
Our 10th Birthday celebrations will kick off on Monday 21 September. Watch out for our 10th Birthday commemorative uniforms which the team will be wearing during the celebrations. We’ll also be profiling some of our longest serving team members in special editions of Hill Street Heroes - 10th Birthday edition, on our socials and customer emails over the next few weeks.
Enter the Draw to Win our $500 Decade of Devonport Hamper
From Monday 21 September, spend $30 or more in one transaction in store and you can enter the draw to win our $500 Decade of Devonport Hamper – a hamper chock-full of grocery favourites, staples and a few gourmet goodies too. The hamper is on display at our Devonport store and will be drawn on Friday 2 October.
Producers Night
To celebrate our wonderful producers, especially those from the North-West Coast who have helped make our Devonport store what it is, we’ll be holding a Producers Night on Friday 2 October where you can meet the growers and makers behind your favourite local products. Come and sample and have a chat to these hardworking Tasmanians. There may be a few interstate ring-ins also – but we love them too!
Things will kick off about 5pm with the Decade of Devonport Hamper prize being drawn then too.
