Many small vineyards not usually open for cellar-door sales without an appointment will open their doors for the Southern Open Vineyards Weekend on March 1 and 2. There will be more than 90 stalls at A Taste of the Huon at Ranelagh Showgrounds on March 9 and 10, open until 7pm on the Sunday and 4.30pm on the Monday. Taste the Harvest at Devonport Roundhouse Park on Sunday, March 9 is a food and wine festival with a theme of agricultural and local produce. Potato dishes feature strongly, along with venison, lamb shanks, beef pies and berries. Live entertainment and participation of wineries, Webster Walnuts, chefs and there is a giant vegie competition. Farm gate bus tours will operate on March 7, 8, and 9. Focus on Franklin runs from Friday April 4 to Sunday April 6.
