Our hard slog at the Taste of Tasmania, fronting up for 12 hours a day, was rewarded when stall judge Margaret Fulton awarded us, Bruny Island Cheese Company and Domaine A/Stoney Vineyard, with the best combined stall award. Not only did we match the wines with Nick Haddow’s cheeses or handmade ravioli with three cheeses, but anyone who came to us with a plate from another stall – be it strawberries or squid – we gave wine-matching advice to as well. Fortunately, the judging was done early and the media got pictures of Nick cutting big wheels of C2 because, by the final day, Nick had completely run out of cheese.
