A great night was had by all on Saturday 23 September as friends and family gathered to help 31 year old triathlete and mother of one Emma Wietnauer on her way to Hawaii to compete in the World Ironman Triathlon Championships in October.

Many of you will know Emma as our resident fitness and nutrition expert, Provisions columnist and All Aerobics personal trainer to Nick and Marco (when she can drag them out of the shop)

As Emma’s sponsor, Hill Street Grocer, and many friends and supporters, held a drinks and auction night at the Sandy Bay Sailing Club to rasie funds to help get Emma to Hawaii.

On October 21 Emma will swim 3.8km, cycle 180km and run 42km in her quest to win her age group and break the magic 10 hour mark in this grueling event. Emma is the only Tasmanian to qualify to represent Australia in Hawaii.

The night was a great success and Emma was really moved and encouraged by the support she received on the night. She’s incredibly determined and we know she will put eveyrthing into the race.
